Daniele Ponzoni
Servers that stay up.
Brands that stay in mind.

Owner of Direzione Digitale in Bergamo, Italy: sysadmin running my own infrastructure in Europe and brand positioning consultant. Open source first, for twenty-five years.

Marketing and IT, two fields but one rule:
technology adapts to you, not the other way round.

Direzione Digitale is my firm, in Bergamo. I founded it and I own it: from there I look after IT infrastructure and brand positioning for companies, professional practices and foundations. Everything on this page goes through it. direzionedigitale.it

Infrastructure and security

I design and run virtual servers, networks and email for people who handle sensitive data: medical and legal practices, accountants, foundations, small businesses. My own servers, in Europe, with off-site backups. When something breaks I answer the phone and the tickets.

  • Proxmox, virtualization and encryption
  • Email, DNS and domain protection
  • Networks, VPN and disaster recovery
  • Moving out of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace

Positioning and web

I apply Al Ries and Jack Trout's positioning to Italian SMEs: first the position to own in the customer's mind, then the website. No WordPress, no bought themes: code written for you, together with Emade.

  • Positioning and brand identity
  • Websites and landing pages with proprietary code
  • SEO and content that lasts
  • Video and strategy for YouTube channels

Where I come from

Hacker in the original sense:
someone who takes things apart to understand them.

I come from the computer underground of the early 2000s. That is where I got my curiosity, my method and my distrust of easy solutions. The rest I learned on the job.

  1. 1997Qualified as an electrician. I still know the CEI standards, and now and then they come in handy.
  2. 2000sComputer underground. Networks, systems and security, all self-taught.
  3. 2005Cisco CCNA training.
  4. SorgeniaSysadmin: five hundred servers and all the virtualization.
  5. Sky DeutschlandRunning the IBM P595 infrastructure.
  6. Direzione DigitaleI found my own firm in Bergamo and I own it. My own infrastructure on OVH, where I have been a partner for over fifteen years.
  7. 2026A CMS for musicians written from scratch with Claude Code, to high security standards: giovannimonoscalco.it.

Digital sovereignty

Whoever controls the data owns it.
Not you.

That is why my clients sit on my own servers, in Europe, on open and documented tools. If you change supplier, your data comes with you.

Cloud Act, 2018
US companies hand over to US authorities the data they control, wherever the servers are. That includes paid Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
GDPR, article 9
Health, biometric data, political and religious opinions. If you process them, the responsibility is yours, not your supplier's.
Data Act, September 2025
Cloud providers in Europe must protect data from access by foreign governments and declare which jurisdiction they fall under.

Outside work
there is a flamenco guitar.

I study with maestro Livio Gianola. Music is how I express myself in total freedom. I have embraced a mission: to preserve beauty, using technology as a means to give value to the arts. This is my idea of Digital Humanism.

  • Roma Expo Guitars. I host on my servers the whole web infrastructure of REG and of the Chitarra In association in Rome: the lutherie fair and the promotion of guitar events.
  • Open Tunings. A project created with maestro Giovanni Monoscalco, composer and luthier, to promote open tunings and introduce guitarists to composition, through educational events and the YouTube channel.

Let's talk.

For an infrastructure to secure, a positioning to build, or a word about flamenco.
